If you’re peckish, head to Paddington for some of the best small plates and pasta at the ever-heaving and stylish 10 William Street, which also has a killer wine list. Across the street, the newly renovated Paddington Inn draws crowds for everything from great roast chicken to cheese on Sardinian flatbread.
Or go for something a little more intimate…
In Surry Hills, the sophisticated, darkened bolthole at 121BC has one of the city’s best selection of Italian wines and nibbles including moorish balsamic-encrusted ribs and arancini.
Beer fans, meanwhile, should stop in at the Local Taphouse in Darlinghurst. Their rotating beer roster sees them serve over 400 tap beers a year and their rooftop bar is a great place to see the evening in with a stomach filling steak or shepherd’s pie. Or, if you’re after something a little more upmarket, around the corner The Beresford is packed with the fashion pack (and, thankfully, pizza and pasta).
Or, venture a little further afield
Head East to find views across the water with serious drinks and food at the Coogee Pavilion while Neighbourhood Bar in Bondi serves impressive food and drinks in a semi-enclosed courtyard (try the burger, always). Porch and Parlour is another low-key local’s bar with simple outdoor seats looking across the water at North Bondi with one of the best wine lists in town.
