There’s a hat-trick of racing action across three states this BMW Caulfield Cup weekend, as the nation’s eyes turn to the big Saturday at Caulfield in Victoria, while Sydney’s Royal Randwick and Perth’s Ascot back it up with their own major events on the same day.
The Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m), worth $3 million and one of the Spring Racing Carnival’s most famous races, will draw around 40,000 fans to Melbourne Racing Club’s Caulfield on Saturday for BMW Caulfield Cup Day. The moment favourite Jameka jumps from barrier 13 in the 139th Cup marks the pinnacle of a 10-race line-up surrounded by one of the Carnival’s most flamboyant days of fun, fashion and entertainment.
Standing in front of our incredible new @davidjonesstore Fashion Stable yesterday! The two David Jones runway shows held here were amazing yesterday and I love that it is open to all racegoers (you don’t need a special ticket or pass) looking forward to Caulfield Cup next week 💃🏽 @melbourneracingclub #gocaulfield
The David Jones Fashion Stable, Caulfield’s hub of all things stylish, will be packed with beautiful people and contenders in the Westfield Style Stakes. The fashion comp has four fun categories: Lads, Ladies, Professional Millinery and for the first time, “Squad,” and the new digital-focused format means everyone keeps a souvenir snap of their look. The winners of the competition will be announced at 3.20pm. Expect to see Style Ambassador Nadia Bartel checking out the talent and rocking her own impeccable racewear – possibly her own collaboration design with Asilio.
On the Crown Lager Live Stage, The Preatures, British India, Timmy Trumpet and DJ Minx will get the party pumping all day long. Everyone, no matter what type of admission ticket, can enjoy this live entertainment spectacular. And everyone can also indulge in a round-the-world feast at Caulfield’s village of delicious pop-ups by Melbourne foodie royalty, including Mamasita, Mr Miyagi, Red Door Yum Cha, Mistress Estelle, Street Feast, Pizza Religion and Skewer’d.
Meanwhile, in WA, Perth 2016 Spring Racing Carnival opens with a fanfare on Saturday with Crown Perth Opening Day at Perth Racing’s Ascot racecourse.
The Group 3 $150,000 Northerly Stakes (1400m) tops the eight-race schedule, with plenty of glamour trackside at the brand new Trackside Deck, with its luxe lounges and direct view of the finishing post. Myer Fashions on the Field will attract the track’s most stylish to a fabulous double marquee beside the Grandstand boasting a Mumm Champagne Bar and YLS Pamper Lounge. No wonder Ascot’s Spring Carnival motto is Bring on The Good Times!

Sydney’s Royal Randwick completes this weekend’s trio of awesomeness, with City Tattersalls Club Cup Day. Traditionally dominated by the boys, this is a day for men to suit up in their Spring best, pop on the signature orange rose buttonhole, and strut their stuff around The Mews by Delicious and The Bucket List Beach Club Marquee. Live racing at the track features the Group 3 $125,000 City Tattersall’s Club Nivison (1400m), and all the action from Caulfield will be streamed live on the largest Super Screen in the southern hemisphere.
