Prepare for a double bill of spectacular race days in NSW and Victoria this weekend, as Royal Randwick and Caulfield both host major Spring Racing Carnival events.
Royal Randwick will be bathed in gold on Saturday as Sydney’s Spring Carnival reaches its dazzling climax with the fourth Moët & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day. While superstar thoroughbreds line up for feature races including the headliner $500,000 Group 1 Moët & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes (2000m), thousands of race lovers will descend upon the eastern suburbs to soak up the atmosphere.
The Moët & Chandon Champagne Bar on level four within exclusive trackside retreat The Stables will be transformed into a glamorous, golden hub for special guests, with sip Moët & Chandon Imperial served up in gorgeous gold goblets. This select space will welcome an array of celebrities led by model and singer Erin Holland in her role as Stakes Day ambassador. The partnership celebrates Erin’s family’s connection to the Australian horse industry; her late grandfather, Brian Marshall McCullough bred horses and was the president of a Queensland riding club. There’s also plenty to toast with those bubbles for the talented Sydney stunner – she’s just been cast in Channel 7’s upcoming Australian drama, The Secret Daughter.
Joining Erin on the glittering guest list are Terry Biviano and hubby Anthony Minichiello, Samantha Armytage, Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich, Ksenija Lukich, Aisha Jade, Tegan Martin, Swans player Tom Derickx and male model Nikolai Danielsen.
Elsewhere trackside there will be endless opportunities to celebrate in style. Fresh produce-driven fare from the finest local suppliers will be tempting taste buds at The Mews by Delicious on the Octagonal Lawn, and the Bucket List Beach Club Marquee on the Ledger Lawn will be pumping as always with live DJs providing beats for the eats all day long.
As Randwick’s Spring Carnival action reaches its pinnacle, Caulfield’s is poised at the starting post, with Sunday’s Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas Day opening spring celebrations at the Melbourne racetrack.
Australia’s racing darling and champion mare Winx will be chasing her twelfth win, in the Group 1 Ladbroke Stakes (2000m). She’s among a stellar array of thoroughbreds lining up to prove once more why this opening day of Caulfield’s three-day BMW Caulfield Cup Carnival is regarded as one of the world’s best Group 1 race days.
Alongside the racing action there’s huge excitement for music lovers too; with top acts The Preatures, British India and The Baker Boys performing live on the Crown Lager Stage. Meanwhile, the David Jones Fashion Stable will be the centre of all things fabulous, with runway shows and fashion-flavoured entertainment all day.
Delicious pop-ups by some of Melbourne’s best restaurants and chefs will be delighting diners, with highlights including Mamasita, Red Door Yum Cha, Street Feast and Mr Miyagi.
Whether you’re in Sydney or Melbourne, or even flying from one to the other to maximise your racing action, this is set to be an unforgettable weekend.
