The Sydney Carnival (you previously knew it as Autumn Carnival) officially launched today at Royal Randwick, and going by today’s sneak preview, 2017 is shaping up to be a good year for Sydney racing, fashion and food.
Erin Holland and Anna Heinrich were just a couple of the notable attendees who glammed up today to bring in the 2017 Sydney Carnival in Style at Royal Randwick Racecourse. The launch officially kicks off the Carnival, which is going to see six prestigious racing events play out over six weekends at Rosehill Gardens and Royal Randwick Racecourses this March and April. Other ambassadors on the lineup included Fitzy and Wippa, Melina Vidler, and Ben Mingay.
Former Miss World Australia Erin Holland was a show-stopper in a slinky white number with black ribbon criss-cross details, while previous Australia’s Next Top Model winner Montana Cox put an edgy stamp on autumn racing fashion with a Lillian Khallouf blazer and pant combination.
Head Chefs Frank Shek (China Doll), Mark Axisa (Catalina), and James Viles (Biota) rocked up in their finest aprons to pose with horses and promote the launch of the gourmet feast that is Little Sydney, as did Victor Churchill’s owner Anthony Puharich (though he wore a suit). In case you missed the memo, Little Sydney is the ultimate culinary racing marquee experience from some of Sydney’s fine dining heavyweights: China Doll, Catalina and Victor Churchill. The marquees are exclusive to The Championships at Royal Randwick taking place on 1 and 8 April 2017. Lookout for Biota who are rumoured to be appearing in a pop-up gazebo with James Boag.
Other notable attendees included Tim Robards, Ginger and Smart, Nerida Winter, Carissa Walford, Abbey Gelmi, Gai Waterhouse, and Chris Waller (the one and only trainer of a certain Winx).
