Australia’s first ever Chinese focused racing festival is coming to Sydney and it’s going to involve dumplings and K-pop.
Hell yes. Fascinators, dumplings, and K-pop. Summer racing doesn’t get much better than this. In February Sydney will be lucky enough to call itself home to the first ever Asian focused racing festival of its kind down under (I did conduct an ill-fated google search but couldn’t find anything to prove the contrary).
Taking place on the first two Saturdays in February, The Star Chinese Festival of Racing is aimed at attracting and celebrating Chinese interest in Australian racing – and they are certainly going about it the right way. Where else can you get your fix of wontons while simultaneously watching Winx fly by chasing her fourteenth consecutive victory just over the barrier? In addition to delicious Chinese fare, there will be K-pop jams and a fashion show by the gorgeous girls from Miss Chinese Australia. Permission is granted to give your own outfit a cheeky oriental twist for the occasion.
The event is perfectly timed to give us something to buzz about just as the Australia Day public holiday is done and the realisation there’s only 28 days left of summer is hitting hard.
