Shedd: The secret to scoring affordable designer and high street outfits for the races for less.
Looking for outfits for the races but not swimming in excess cash? Well there’s a new app in town, and it’s called Shedd. This nifty little app launched in Australia in last year and has been steadily picking up steam in the Aussie market ever since.
How does Shedd work?
The idea is simple. People upload pre-loved clothing or accessories on the app, in a similar way to uploading an Instagram photo. It’s as easy as snapping a pic, throwing a brief description and some hash tags on it and it’s live.
When we say pre-loved, it’s probably more a case of went-on-a-tinder-date-and-never-called than ‘loved’. Some of the items are regretted purchases that are brand new with their tags and original packaging intact, whereas others have been worn once or twice at a push.
On the buyers end, specific items can be searched via hashtags (e.g. #red #dress), or users can just scroll through the newly added items section to see what takes their fancy.
The fun lies in the chase. Not knowing what bargain you could strike upon at any given moment is like rolling the dice on the roulette wheel. With labels such as Self Portrait and Asilio alongside high street faves such as Zara and ASOS, it’s a pleasant jumble sale (reminiscent of eBay in the good old days).
Shedd encourage their users to keep imagery clean and simple, so the app has a nice look about it. Eye catching goods tend to immediately standout.
With the races often being a costly exercise to dress for this is great news for regular race goers. Anything that puts dresses in reach for a fraction of the price is a very welcome addition to home screens! Shedd is a keeper.
Shedd is available on iOS and Android. Download it for free here.
