Nicola Cerrone shares his top tips for matching your jewellery to your outfit at the races this autumn (and beyond).
Nicola Cerrone (Director and creator of divine jewellery label Cerrone) knows a thing or two about putting a succinct look together when it comes to bling. With so many elements needing to work together for the big day (dress, fascinator, clutch, shoes, and accessories) it’s critical to nail the right balance and pull it all off harmoniously. Luckily, Nic’s kindly shared his expertise with The Races to clear up the crucial do’s and don’ts for getting it right.
Here’s his top advice for making your rocks work for you:
Accessories will complete your perfect trackside look
I am always looking for a ‘complete’ outfit and the right jewellery can really take your racing look to the next level. Remember to coordinate your jewellery with your frock and millinery – and not pile it all on.
Make your entrance with a statement piece
Big statement-making jewellery pieces, such as a long rope necklace or chandelier earrings, create a ‘wow’ factor and allow the perfect opportunity to show off your personal style. My advice is to select either a statement frock or accessories, not both. Remember, simple outfit, detailed jewellery. Detailed outfit, simple jewellery.
Bright is beautiful
Bold pinks, reds and purples will be making appearances trackside this season, so embrace this with pops of bright and beautiful colours in your jewellery items.
The Races are such a great way to show off your own individual style and stand out against the crowds, so let your personality shine through. Don’t be afraid to refresh items already in your wardrobe to create something new and exciting. I have seen Cerrone necklaces used as race day headpieces before!
Tassels tassels tassels
We predict the fillies will be incorporating this favourite, playful trend into their raceday looks for Autumn Carnival. Have some fun with tassel embellishments, whether it’s in your jewellery pieces, frock or accessories. Just remember like with any one trend, not to go overboard.
Finally, remember to plan ahead
I always advise my clients to try their jewels with their headwear before the day to make sure they fit together, will be comfortable during the course of a long day and compliment one other. You don’t want to leave it to the last minute to realise your beautiful new earrings don’t work with your headpiece.
Nicola Cerrone will be a Judge at The Fashion Chute on The Championships Day 2, 8 April 2017.
