The 2017 Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival is kicking off on Saturday 13 May 2017. Here’s your complete guide to what it’s all about and they key dates to be aware of.
The Carnival Events: When and Where
The Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival falls on five consecutive Saturdays in May and June 2017. These are:
- 13 May, James Boag Premium Doomben 10,000 Day at Doomben Racecourse
- 20 May, Hardy Brothers Doomben Cup Day at Doomben Racecourse
- 27 May, Darley Kingsford Smith Cup Day, at Eagle Farm Racecourse
- 3 June, Treasury Brisbane Ladies Oaks Day, at Eagle Farm Racecourse
- 10 June, UBET Stradbroke Day, at Eagle Farm Racecourse
You can get tickets for any of these events here.
The birdcage at Eagle Farm is tipped to be graced this year with visits from Olena Khamula (yeah, that babe from the most recent series of The Bachelor), Kris Smith (yeah, that babe from Australian Survivor and modelling), and Nadia Bartell (that mega babe that’s Instagram account is a trip down FOMO lane). OK, you get it, lots of babes. Queue the battle of designer labels and divine millinery.
The food is something we need to talk about. Chefs at Doomben and Eagle Farm are gearing up to serve more than 8000 kg of fresh Mooloolaba prawns across the five events of the carnival. That’s like, the weight of a small bus in prawns. Not just any prawns however. Those fresh salty Queensland ones that trump anything else in the seafood counter at your local Woolies.
At all three of the Eagle Farm events, they’re doing pop ups of some of your fave Brisbane restaurants and bars in the Stradbroke Plaza Precinct. Two of them will be Moo Moo and Montrachet. We can’t say what the other two are just yet, but when you already know Montrachet will be there does it really matter? The Stradbroke Plaza Precinct is accessible to anyone with a race ticket, and will feature the best bites, champagne, craft beer and more. It’s the marquee experience we’ve been waiting for. Don’t foget to grab yourself a Sirromet wine spritzer while you’re there.
That leads us to entertainment. for girls (and guys) there’ll be beauty pampering in the Stradbroke Plaza Precinct at Eagle Farm for starters. Then on the bill they have no other than Aus mega weight rock band ACDC playing live on Hardy Brother Doomben Cup Day (20 May). It’s rare you get a gig from a sell-out band as a bonus on top of a great race day, so this is truly momentous. On UBET Stradbroke Day they’ve got Anthony Callea and Tim Campbell. On Doomben 10,000 Day they’ve got Chisel Revived. There’s really too many too mention here across the carnival, just suffice to say it’s a packed bill!
As previously mentioned, high standards apply. Go all out for these events and be sure to check out the QueensPlaza Fashions on the Field competition on the main stage at both Doomben and Eagle Farm.
