The coolest things you need to do while you’re at Royal Randwick for The Championships.
With so much going on over The Championships Days 1 and 2 at Royal Randwick this April, it’s hard to know which way to look. Make sure you don’t miss these essential must-dos over the course of the two action loaded weekends.
Enter the Fashion Chute
Dress a little special (make sure it’s black and white for Day 1) and pop into The Fashion Chute (on the Octagonal Lawn) to try your luck in the ultimate racing fashion competition. Posing for a quick photo is all it takes to enter, so you might as well give it a shot when there’s prizes such as Emirates flights to Europe and Longines watches on offer! Brush up on the contest guidelines to make sure you meet the requirements here.
Have a flutter (or eight) on a world class Group 1 race
With eight (yes, eight) Group 1 races taking place over the two weekends of The Championships, racing simply does not get better than this. For those who aren’t racing buffs, Group 1 is the highest grade of thoroughbred racing there is. As you would imagine, this means there is some serious prize money flying around (and this is not to mention the Group 2 races!). Suffice to say you should nab yourself a spot up close to the post for these magnanimous proceedings.

Get a pic in front of the ‘Little Sydney’ sign

Let one of Royal Randwick’s talented bar team make you a cocktail
What better way to celebrate a win than with one of the divine cocktails off Royal Randwick’s specially designed menu? With options such as the Royal Randwick Belvedere Espresso Martini or the Randwick Royale you might be forced to have two.
Watch Winx chase her 17th consecutive victory
Can she do it again? Be part of racing history as you watch Winx thunder past in her pursuit of her 17th straight victory in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes on The Championships Day 2.
Get down to a DJ set from D-Flat or Sasha Moon
Wherever you are at Royal Randwick, at any point over The Championships, there’s bound to be a DJ in proximity dropping raining funky beats onto the crowd. You’ve got D-Flat at the Truckstop on Day 1, Sasha Moon at the Fashion Chute and Heineken bar on Day 2, Meg Waldron and Alice Quiddington covering a day each of Little Sydney, and many more stationed all over the place. There’s nothing like a post race dance-off with your crew.
